About me & my family
My name is Julia, I have been working with dogs for over five years and I would love to look after your fluffball!
Before working with animals, I was a nurse in Switzerland (for humans), and I have an Australian certificate for emergency care in remote areas. After leaving Switzerland, I worked as a musher in an ethical dog sledding farm in Finnish Lapland, who was also acting as a dog rescue center for the area. I stayed there for four years and was in charge of the medical care and the training program of the 230 dogs.
I also worked in Australia for about two years for a husky Sanctuary of 80 dogs as a kennel manager. In addition to looking after the dogs, their medical needs, and organizing their behavioral Rehabilitation training, I organized for an additional 60 dogs to stay with us as an emergency Shelter during the Australia bushfires of 2020. I obtained my Australian certification for dog boarding and dog Rescue manager in 2020.
When I came back to Finland from Australia, I brought back in my luggage a wonderful Rescue kelpie called Clyde, whom I had been fostering for several months before I decided to adopt.
I went through all these Adventures with my partner for many years, Josh, who is also an experienced dog handler and passionate animal welfare Advocate. He will make it his mission just as much as myself to make sure your pup are having a nice time and enough attention.
About my motivation
Dogs have been my life 24/7 for years and I have loved every single one of them dearly. There is nothing more than I enjoy learning more about a particular dog and their specific quirks.
I am currently in the process of building dog Cabins and fenced-up areas to be able to welcome 4 dogs simultaneously and open my dog boarding business, but in the meantime, I have plenty of time and care to offer to one or two dogs before the business starts. Currently, I live in a tiny house on a 4000 sqm forest property.
This project was born of my experience with Rescue dogs, and the difficulties they have of being separated from their family. I want to make sure that, although it is not possible to explain to your pet that they have not been abandoned, and their owner will come back for them, they are too distracted and are having too much fun to notice before their owner are back .
About my services
The main services I offer are boarding at my home.
When in my care, you dog will be with me at all time, and sleep in my home. During the day, they will be walked a minimum of four times or more, and we will go on a one hour minimum hike everyday, unless they have health concerns, in which case I will adapt the day around their needs.
I will not only be present for your dog, but interact with them throughout the day, without being distracted by anything else, since your pup is my only job. I am well aware of the difficulties that pups can face when their owner is not here, and my goal is to make their time without you the least traumatic possible.
Unfortunately, at this point in time, our large property is not fenced off, so every moment spent outside is not only Supervised but Secured with a long lead, which is why I put so much emphasis on multiple walks outside of the property, so that they don't get bored and have a chance to spend their energy properly.
My own dog Clyde is castrated and loves company and will be an excellent partner for any dog, as he will respect their boundaries. The two dogs will never be left unsupervised.
You will get at least one video and one photo of your dog with an update every day, but I am more than happy to send you more if you are missing them.
For an additional 3 euros / day, I can provide good quality food myself, but I recommend for you to bring your pup's usual food as not to bother their stomach if they are sensitive.
For an additional 10 euros, I will pick up and drop off your dog in my car, which is fitted with a transport box than can accommodate any size of dog up to a St. Bernard.
